MEET THE TEAM
Our lovely team consists of Marcus, Sarah and our two optometrists Elpida Tolan and Eva Wong.
Owner and Qualified Dispensing Optician
Marcus is fully qualified in Australia and Britain as a dispensing optician, and has spent many years perfecting skills in optical fitting and surfacing. After having worked in Oxford St London he made the decision to move back to Australia, to open his own practice in 1983, in Mt Eliza. Over the last 36 years, he has had the privilege of watching our beautiful village and it’s locals, expand and grow into what we all know Mt Eliza to be today.
Marcus believes that “frame adjustment and correct fitting are paramount to wearing glasses. It’s important to have frames that sit well on your face and are comfortable. If you are an everyday wearer of spectacles, comfort is an important element of frame choice.”
Selecting frames for our clientele, I spend time to see how well frames are made, the adjustment capabilities of them and whether the cosmetics of them are going to suit the demographic.
I have thoroughly loved my job and seeing people leave happy with frames they have enjoyed choosing makes coming to work a pleasure.
Eye Wear Consultant / Marketing Manager
Learnt from the best – he’s old school, but knows what he’s talking about!
Sarah enjoys assisting clients in frame choice and helping them select the best options for their eye needs. Having been trained on the job, she’s learnt the importance of frame fitting and adjustments, and specific measuring techniques used for different lens types.
“I love knowing clients have had an enjoyable experience selecting their frames. It’s always nice to have a chat through the process, find out what each individual likes and what they feel suits them. While everyone in our team is happy to give their opinion, we always want our clients to be happy and actually like what they choose. The final decision should always come down to the person wearing the glasses (or sometimes their spouse!).”
Honest opinions is what you will get at Mt Eliza Optical. Not everything suits everyone, and we will definitely not tell you everything looks good, that is not helpful or beneficial for our clients. If you’re looking for a good experience with staff that have time for you, look no further than us.
Eye examinations are not only completed for improved vision. Our recommendations that you have your eyes examined anywhere between one and three years, is for the health of your eyes, not just your sight. While everyone wants to have the best vision possible, sometimes we forget that there can be underlying medical conditions that can affect our eyes as well.
Our checks for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy are some of the conditions we detect early and refer our patients to the correct specialist.
This practice completely bulk bills all eye examinations through Medicare, there is no cost to you.
For the sake of your eyes and your vision, all you need is half an hour.
